February 2011 Eco-Tip: Virtuous Valentine
The month of February is best known for what happens right in its middle: Valentine's Day. But is it a beautiful day for lovers to give full expression to their feelings, or a day to be scorned as something else that has fallen prey to the powers of commercialisation?
If you like to celebrate it, then think creatively about how you can do so in a way that helps you live lightly. For example, choose flowers that are fairly traded or British-grown; cook your loved one a delicious meal from local, organic produce, and remember that this Valentine's Day sees the launch of Fairtrade, Fairmined gold. |
