Summer 2010 Eco-Tip for the Ladies
At Living Lightly we don't like to shy away from the topics that others might not want to talk about, so this month's Eco-Tip is a 'ladies only' one as it concerns feminine hygiene.
If you are a woman reading this, have you ever thought about what goes into the sanitary products you use and where they go after you have used them? The majority of tampons and pads are made from synthetic materials which are petroleum-based (ie they depend on oil for their manufacture) and non-biodegradable.
Good alternatives to consider changing to this month are to use products made from organic cotton (see Natracare for more on this) or a re-usable product such as the Mooncup. |
