Repeating Challenge

If distance allows, walk or cycle to work. Remember that our definition of what is close enough to walk/cycle to has shrunk significantly over the years!

If you can’t walk or cycle, travel to work by public transport. Traveline provides useful information.

Share lifts with work colleagues. These are useful websites: LiftShare, NationalCarShare, CarShare.com, LondonLiftShare.

One-hit Wonder

Ask your work place if it has a green travel plan. If not, offer to work with management in putting one together.

The Big Ask

Get in touch with Sustrans and look at how you could work out bike lanes/routes to major places of work in your area.

The Big Ask

Improve the facilities at your workplace which would encourage people not to drive (eg. secure bike locking facilities and showering/changing facilities)

Work at home some days to minimise travel.

The Big Ask

Adopt a carbon offsetting plan to offset all emissions produced by both travel to work and travel whilst at work. Check out A Rocha’s ‘Climate Stewards’ initiative.

The Big Ask

If your workplace uses company cars, ask them to provide incentives to encourage people to choose high efficiency/dual fuel cars.

Where possible hold virtual meetings rather than having people travel to the office.
