Refuse and reduce

Think on This
Learn the waste hierarchy: reduce, re-use, recycle – and start living by it! The idea is that it’s best to reduce (to buy less in the first place and reduce your ecological footprint), next best to re-use, and that recycling is the final option. Any remaining waste is ultimately a failure of us, or of our culture, to use God’s world sustainably.

Make a decision now that you will always refuse to take a plastic bag from a shop.

The Big Ask
Reduce your food packaging and form a food cooperative with your friends so you can buy in bulk (see Infinity Foods for a good option).

Repeating Challenge
Reduce the amount of food you throw away by planning your meals and writing a list before you go shopping so you only buy what you will use.

Repeating Challenge
Never impulse-buy. If you see something you would like, go home and think about it first before making your decision.

Repeating Challenge
Before buying something, ask yourself if you really need it and if it has been produced in an ethically-responsible way.
