Turn your town into a ‘Fair Trade Town’. By April 2009 there were over 400 in the UK, with another 200 areas campaigning towards status – the FairTrade Foundation has all the information.

Get involved in any building developments that are taking place locally. Push for them to be of the highest environmental standard (eco homes / eco buildings)

Talk to your local shopkeeper – find out their name and what they do when they’re not behind the counter! See what ethical / fair-trade / environmentally-friendly products they stock, and encourage them by buying what they have, and suggesting where they could improve!
